1-on-1 with Marquette Commit Duane Wilson Jr.

– 2013 point guard Duane Wilson of Dominican High School (Milwaukee) announced his commitment today as he said he will be playing his college ball at Marquette University. In the end Duane chose Marquette over Missouri and Memphis. Wilson becomes the second local commitment to Marquette along with Vincent’s Deonte Burton (2013). Following his commitment we asked Duane a few questions on his commitment and the season.

MWB: So why did you choose Marquette?

DW: Coach Buzz and I built a strong relationship. I trust him and they were my first offer and have been there with me through everything.

MWB: Besides winning the state tournament, what was the best memory of your season?

DW: The best memory would have to be the last team practice and the road trip.

MWB: Favorite game of the season?

DW: My favorite game of the season would have to be our Germantown or Lodi games.

MWB: What do you feel you have improved on most this season?

DW: I feel like I improved on every aspect of my game and became an all-around better player.

MWB: Diamond Stone has caught a lot of people’s attention, is he a player to watch out for in the coming years?

DW: I think Diamond is the #1 player in the country, unbelievable upside and talent.

MWB: Who’s the best player you’ve played against the season? Or the guy who gave you the most trouble?

DW: The best player I played against was defiantly Zak Showalter, but nobody really gave me trouble though.

With Wilson, Burton, and now-sophomore guard Vander Blue, Buzz has had great success keeping local talent in the state. 2015 big man Diamond Stone is a player to watch out for and who could potentially join Wilson at Marquette if the school decides to offer him.
